The Uncomfortable Truth Screening and Q&A with the Filmmaker
Tickets are still available at the door, friends!

In this film, Loki Mulholland, the son of famous Civil Rights Activist, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, grapples with his familys deep roots in racism as he unearths his familys history and the truth behind their slave-owning past.

Together with Luvaghn Brown, a Freedom Rider, Loki explores, through his very personal history, the United States institutions of racism that continue to haunt our country today.

The Uncomfortable Truth is an unapologetic film that lays bare what we all need to understand about each other with an open and honest dialogue on race and society.

Join us for the film and the Q & A to follow. You may also choose to join us for a special luncheon with Loki before the screening.

This film is captioned for Deaf and Hard of Hearing viewers, and ASL interpretation will be available for the Q & A. If you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and purchase luncheon tickets, an intepreter will be made available.

About the filmmaker:

Loki Mulholland, a native of Virginia, is an award-winning filmmaker and the son of Civil Rights Legend, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland. His first book, "She Stood For Freedom", is a nationally published  illustrated kid's book about the life of his mother and was inspired by his award-winning film,  "An Ordinary Hero", which appeared on PBS. Loki has spoken all over the country on the subject of the Civil Rights Movement and race relations today. His next film, "The Uncomfortable Truth", slated for release in the fall of 2017, chronicles the history of institutional racism in America and his family's connection to it dating all the way back to Jamestown, Virginia. The Uncomfortable Truth has won Best Documentary at the National Black Film Festival, Utah Film Awards and the Milledgeville Film Festival. Currently, Loki resides in Utah and runs the foundation he created, The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation, to continue his mothers work, teach people about the Civil Rights Movement and inspire kids to make a difference in their world.
