A Truckee Library for Now and the Future
Join the Friends of the Truckee Library for a special evening with guest speaker Susan Hildreth to envision a new library for Truckee.

No longer just an amenity, the public library is a key partner in sustaining the educational, economic and civic health of a community. It is a welcoming space for a wide range of purposesreading, communicating, learning, playing, meeting and doing business. Its physical presence provides an anchor for economic development and neighborhood revitalization, and helps to strengthen social bonds and community identity.

Join us on Saturday, October 21 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Donner Memorial State Park Emigrant Trail Museum. Drinks, hors d'oeuvres and museum tour from 5:30-6:30, followed by a presentation from guest speaker Susan Hildreth on the changing role of libraries and a discussion on the vision of a new library for Truckee.

About Susan Hildreth:
Susan Hildreth, a national library authority, will provide cutting edge information on the changing role of libraries in communities across the country. Appointed Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services from 2011-2015 by President Obama, Hildreth oversaw a $250 million annual budget. She was also Gov. Schwarzeneggers appointee as California State Librarian. Hildreth currently serves as Gates-funded Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at the University of Washington Information Schools and is an Aspen Fellow in the Dialogue on the Future of Public Libraries.
