Wrapped In Resilience
The Suquamish Foundation will host its 2nd Annual fall fashion event. This event, Wrapped in Resilience: A Native Shawl & Vest Showcase, is a fundraiser to build a heritage park, including a playground based on traditional Suquamish stories, trails, picnic shelters and Native artist workshops. The event will be held at White Horse Golf Course on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 6pm.
Across Indian County, traditional shawl and vests represent resilience, family, creativity and healing, making them the ideal metaphor for the Suquamish Foundations commitment to supporting the work of local nonprofits and individuals through grants and education. The event will feature a brand new collection of shawls that will be designed by our Suquamish Youth Council for our Suquamish Song & Dance group. Other showcases include a community collection and a Viewers Choice competition collection, modeled by tribal youth.
This is a very unique event that blends historical traditions and contemporary Native culture. Buy your tickets before we are sold out and come enjoy gourmet appetizers and desserts, and a no-host bar.
