Gender Reel 2017
Gender Reel 2017, the Twin Cities ONLY non-profit, grass roots film festival dedicated to enhancing the visibility of gender non-conforming and trans people, kicks off it's 7th year festival with four amazing film screenings. In addition to screenings, we will also host two small art shows, panel discussions and Q&A's.

Festival Schedule:

Saturday, October 21st -- Trans in the 21st Century (Location: Augsburg College -- Sateren Auditorium, 1977 S 7 1/2 Street, Mpls)

Gender Reel kicks off our opening night with a variety of fascinating short and feature films about trans youth, parenting and the military. During the event, there will also be a small art show showcasing the work of 6 queer/trans artists and two Q&A's. Films include: A Place in the Middle, Siempre Fui Alex, Becoming Johanna, A Womb of Their Own, Transgender at War and In Love, Call of Duty. Host: Zachary Mallory

Time: 4 PM - 9 PM
Ticket Cost: $5

Thursday, October 26th -- Not Your Token: Trans People of Color voices in film and media (Location: Intermedia Arts -- 2822 Lyndale Ave S, Mpls).

This year Gender Reel teams up with New York Cities Black Trans Media to bring you a night of capivating films, performances and discussion about the lives and experiences of trans people of color. BTM Founder Sasha Alexander,  Content Director Olympia Perez and local radio show personality and trans activist Quinn Villagomez are collaborating on this program to bring you an amazing night of empowering film and art. Films and performance artists TBA. Host: Quinn Villagomez; Program Currators: Sasha Alexander & Olympia Perez. Light snacks provided.

Thursday, November 2nd -- Back to the future: A look at trans filmmaking then and now (Location: Trylon Microcinema -- 3258 Minnehaha Ave, Mpls).

Join America In Transition Founder, Andre Perez, as we step back in time to view two films that set the tone for the amazing trans/GNC movement we know today. Following this, Andre will show the audience clips from his amazing new project, America In Transition. Flims include: Queens at Heart, Outlaw and film clips by America In Transition.

During this years festival, partial proceeds will go towards supporting five amazing organizations and/or groups who work with the trans and gender non-conforming community. These organizations/groups are: The Family Tree, Reclaim, Ham Time Youth Group, Minnesota Trans-Health Coalition and the Transgender Veterans Association.
