This is the first play of the Chicago Jewish Play Reading Festival.
Roberta and Larry are devoted to each other -- and to Temple Beth David. When a mysterious rabbi, who calls himself "the Jewish Indiana Jones," offers them the chance to save a Holocaust Torah, they jump into action. Both comic and poignant, Renee Calarco's play is a canny portrait of a contemporary synagogue's quest to remember the Holocaust.
Based on a true story of fraud in a Jewish community, this comedy is the winner of the 2014 Jewish Play Writing Contest.
A discussion and light refreshments follow the play reading.
Recommended for ages 13 and up.

The Northwest Suburban Collaborative is a group of synagogues and organizations in the Northwest Suburban area of Chicago dedicated to providing programs that are open and welcoming to all.
Partner organizations include Big Tent Judaism, Congregation Beth Judea, Congregation Or Shalom, Jewish Community Center of Chicago, Jewish United Fund, Shir Hadash Synagogue, and Temple Chai.

8 Days, 8 Locations--Continuum Theater, a new Chicago Jewish performing Arts Organization, produces The Chicago Jewish Play Reading Festival. The festival features 8 contemporary Jewish plays, read by professional actors in 8 locations around the Metropolitan Chicago area. Various synagogues and community organizations partner with us by hosting the readings in their buildings and promoting the festival to their community.
The Chicago Jewish Play Reading Festival 2015 is supported by the Breakthrough Fund: An Innovation of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, and a grant by JCC PresenTense Chicago.
