Pho + Ashley Dubose + Diatonic
"Instrumental funk crew PHO could pass for a pack of young CPAs, or a Mormon mission group. Yet they lay down industrial-strength grooves in the grand tradition of the JB's, AWB and the Meters, with an electric Miles Davis flourish or two for good measure. These eight guys write catchy originals, and offer exciting solos to go with their irresistible rhythms. Like the BT Express, they'll do it till you're satisfied."

- Star Tribune

Ashley Dubose:
Ashley is probably most widely known for her participation in Season 5 of NBC's The Voice, but her musical journey began years before her world debut on the hit reality TV show.

began singing and writing music at the age of 10 years old  a well-kept secret at that time. The desire to be a recording artist and performer grew from watching pop artists like Britney Spears, Destiny's Child, and Aaliyah perform on television. Ashley's first performance was in the sixth grade when she performed in her school's talent show. Encouraged early on by her mother to sing for family, friends and strangers alike, Ashley eventually conquered her nerves enough to perform in larger talent shows, community engagements, bars, weddings, and clubs.  In May 2012, Ashley released her independent debut album, Somethin' More. The album was created while Ashley parented her 2 year old daughter and attended college full-time. Released just a day before graduating with a 4-year mathematics degree, Somethin' More was a culmination of Ashley's life experiences over the four years leading up to its creation  hope, discouragement, love, betrayal, faith, and the desire to achieve what she believes is a greater calling on her life. The unplugged acoustic version of Somethin' More was released in the following year, catering to the listeners that enjoy a more stripped down approach to the album's originals.

Emerging from Vacaville, California, by way of Minneapolis MN, Matt Mulheran is on a mission to become a prominent producer in the Underground Hip- Hop scene. Since being drawn to Hip-Hop by the jazz infused music of A Tribe Called Quest, Matt, operating under the name of Diatonic, has continually pushed to create a new breed of Hip-Hop. The D.J./ producer/ audio engineer is currently working diligently at 3 different studios around the Twin Cities. Primarily influenced by underground Hip-Hop pioneers 9th wonder, J.Dilla, and Pete Rock, Ta-Ku, Sango, Evil Needle, Diatonic poses a sharp contrast to the today's mainstream Hip-Hop by rejuvenating classic songs and creating lively soulful Hip-Hop instrumentals. In doing so he hopes to spread the soul music that is usually kept underground throughout the hip hop community, and, on a larger scale, throughout the world as a whole.
