Tim Green Quartet at Jazzway 6004
Tim Green, 2nd place winner in the 2008 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition, brings his exciting and fiery technique to Jazzway 6004.
Tim received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 2004, where he studied with world-renowned instructors such as Dick Oatts, Gary Dail, Bob Mintzer and Steve Slagle. In May 2007, Tim graduated from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at the University of Southern California with a masters degree in Jazz Studies. While attending the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, Tim studied, performed and toured with jazz greats such as, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Terrance Blanchard.
In August of 2005, Tim released his debut album entitled Divine Inspiration on G Major Records, which features hymns and spiritual songs. He has performed on the Stella Gospel music awards, which aired on national TV. Tims main aspiration as a musician is to develop a sound that best describes him, through a firer and spiritual approach. Hes currently serving as the saxophone professor at Morgan State University and also teaches at his former high school the Baltimore School For The Arts.
Tim performs with Romain Colin - Piano (Thelonious Monk Institute Grad , Fresh Sounds Recording Artist ), Kriss Funn - Bass ( Christian Scott , Kenny Garrett ) and Damoin Reid - Drums ( Greg Osby , Robert Glasper )
