Dial 'M' for Murder, by Frederick Knott, is the play which Alfred Hitchcock based his 1954 film of the same name. Former tennis player, Tony Wendice, accustomed to a lavish lifestyle that is made possible by his marriage to a wealthy London heiress, Margot, plans what he believes is the perfect murder. But his plans take a turn when his wife refuses to play the part of the victim.
