WR101 Film Festival - New Lost City Ramblers - Always Been a Rambler
Filmmaker Yasha Aginsky explores the musical history and continuing legacy of the New Lost City Ramblers, a 1950s string band that revived Depression-era music and helped jumpstart the folk scene of the pre-Beatles era. Always Been a Rambler revisits the band's heyday and assesses their influence through archival photos, rare performance footage, and interviews with contemporaries and devotees. Among the roots-music luminaries making their appearances are Clarence Ashley, Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson, Elizabeth Cotton, Pete Seeger, and Ricky Skaggs.
