A Regathering of Spirit: Native Lesbian Writers
Join the Multicultural LGBT Literary Foundation and the San Diego Central Library for a wonderful night celebrating Native American lesbian writing. The legendary Chrystos and Janice Gould will read selections from their work and be available for book signings afterward. There will also be a small book fair focused on Native writing as well as booths featuring organizations from throughout San Diego. Don't miss the first Native American authors EVER to read in our new and beautiful Central Library!
Chrystos is a Menominee activist and poet whose work appears in the iconic collection This Bridge Called My Back and who was the Keynote Speaker at 2011's Creating Change Conference. Janice Gould is a Koyoonk'auwi Maidu scholar and writer who is the Poet Laureate of the Pikes Peak Region. These two writers will come together to share their work with San Diego in a historical event that cannot be missed!
"I'm a canary down this mine of apathy/singing & singing my yellow throat on fire/ with this sacred holy purifying/ spirit of anger" -Chrystos
"I was a live seed planted by a woman/ in another woman's womb./ All things insatiable belong to me." -Janice Gould
