SCMS Presents Haagsche Hofmuzieck
Friday, September 18, 2009 8:00 pm Young Artists Series: Haagsche Hofmuzieck This program highlights the fascinating transition between the Late Baroque and Early Classical eras. In the music of Vivaldi, Handel, and Tartini, we have rich examples of the late baroque style that set the foundation for the works of CPE Bach and Haydn. These early classical composers wished to break free of the structured traditions of the baroque and push the boundaries of musical expression. The program concludes with an example of the ideal marriage of musical diversity and unity: JS Bachs The Musical Offering shows his originality and compositional genius, while displaying an unrivaled mastery of the old contrapuntal style.
