ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

MONA LISSA:
Her jazz renditions merge old standards with a new understanding of the soul of jazz. When she sings, our spirits are soothed and heightened at the same time. Mona Lissa is a songwriter in her own right and she mingles her own fresh new material with timeless classics. Mona's lyrical jazz continues in the same groove as her idols. Her lilting voice has remarkable range, echoing the haunting quality of Kate Bush and Sarah Brightman one minute, and diving into the deep sultriness of Eartha Kit and Sarah Vaughan the next. This excellent artist merges her own East Indian and German heritage with the never-ending enrichments of traditional jazz. Mona Lissa performs regularly at Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill, House Of Jazz, Club Balattou and many other venues and festivals. She recently completed her first EP of original jazz-pop compositions together with Juno Award-winning producer, Rob Heaney (Cirque du Soleil, Patrick Watson).

"Well, I have to say that I was immediately struck by Mona Lissa's voice. The feeling of the record is very reminiscent of [Sarah Brightman's "Dive"] in that the songs are mostly ballads and Mona Lissa's voice is controlled and haunting but in this case, there's an intimate (at times, overtly sexual) undertone in the music and lyrics that would make a shy listener blush."

KIMBERLY & THE DREAMTIME:

Kimberly Bourgeois' enveloping voice and memorable melodies are sure to light up your night. Influenced by Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and Joni Mitchell, this singer-songwriter's evocative lyrics bathe in a loungey, sauna-smooth sound that will leave you longing for more.

Kimberly believes that words are musical, music is universal, and dreams are portals to silver-tongued songs. She writes and sings because these remind her that she is free. Performance is her way of inviting you to spread your wings too.

The passionate songstress has several hot engagements lined up this summer and fall, including Montreal Italian Week and the Leonardo da Vinci Centre. Guaranteed to heighten the heat on August 31st is Kimberly's smokin' band, which will include: Emilie Bernard (keys), Martin Saint-Germain (guitar), and Robert Saulnier (bass).

This Labour Day weekend, feel the fire and let yourself glowKimberly and the Dreamtime is poetry you can dance to.

MARI SILD:
Mari Sild is an Estonian pianist, singer and composer. Her playing has been described as "Silky, wavelike.... So full of Baltic good sorcery..." (André Seleanu, art critic). Since 2013, Mari has been active in Montreal with her Nordic jazz-pop-burlesque band Jazzotopes, which despite its short existence has already created quite a buzz. Jazzotopes have been welcomed to prestigious venues like House of Jazz, Upstairs Jazz, Theatre Rialto, and the legendary Club Balattou; and featured at CKUT and CISM radio stations. Also in 2013, Mari played at Rimouski Jazz festival and Kaleido Arts festival (Edmonton) as a keyboardist for Namori Cissé jazz project. Universal love and a wish to protect our fragile natural environment are some of the underlying themes for the music of Jazzotopes. Mari Sild and Jazzotopes are also seasoned travellers in the "Soulscapes"  the landscapes of the human soul  and continue to describe the complexity and beauty of these terrains. Jazzotopes' debut EP "Soulscapes Live Love Recordings" is available on their website:
