SEASON 11

WALKING IN THE CITY OF SILENCE AND STONE
By Steven Spotswood
Directed by Jess Jung
Fall 2014-Summer 2015
WORLD PREMIERE

Throughout the entire 2014-2015 season, Forum Theatre will produce the World Premiere Podcast Play Walking the City of Silence and Stone by DC playwright Stephen Spotswood. One part murder mystery, one part ghost story, one part intimate drama: Walking the City of Silence and Stone is a site-specific audioplay that uses the entire city as its set piece. To be released for streaming or download in nine parts throughout the season, it will lead the audience from one end of Washington, DC to the other, peeling back the familiar skin of the District to show the strange world that lies just underneath.

HOW WE GOT ON
By Idris Goodwin
Directed by Paige Hernandez
October 30-November 22, 2014
REGIONAL PREMIERE

Featuring: Manu Kumasi and Thony Mena
Set to the music of the late 80's rap scene, How We Got On is a coming of age story about three suburban kids, Hank, Julian, and Luann and how they navigate tumultuous family relationships, cultural isolation, and the search for authenticity. A sultry DJ re-mixes their lives as they use music to discover and express themselves in places words fail.

THE T PARTY
Written and Directed by Natsu Onoda Power
January 2015
REMOUNTED WORLD PREMIERE

Based on real local stories, this show celebrates gender transformation in the Nation's Capital with a spirit of experimentation that will transgress, transform, and transcend gender norms. Power will continue to grow the piece with new additions and surprises in Season 11's production.

PASSION PLAY
By Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Michael Dove
March 19-April 12, 2015

In a poetic and playful piece, three communities of players put on the Easter story of Christ while navigating the intersections of religion and politics of three eras: Queen Elizabeth's England,  Hitler's Germany, and Reagan's America. Passion Play is a return to the epic theatrical scope of Angels in America, Scorched, and Mad Forest, a signature of Forum and Artistic Director Michael Dove.

THE SHIPMENT
By Young Jean Lee
May 21-June 14, 2015
REGIONAL PREMIERE

Staged through a series of theatrical vignettes, The Shipment is in an irreverent look at African-American identity, challenging stereotypes in a not yet post-racial society. Using a veil of humor including politically-charged standup, sketch, short drama, music, and movement, director Young Jean Lee confronts that which makes her most uncomfortable and shines a subversive, engaging light on the racial filter through which we perceive the world.
