Film Screening & Music Release of 30 NYC Buskers & New York State of Mind in San Francisco
Take 30 NYC Buskers; add an award winning music producer, one iconic song and ten hours in a recording studio and magic is created, in the short documentary film and music of From Street to Studio.
Award winning author, Heather Jacks and highly acclaimed performing artist/musician, Keaton Simons will be hosting an intimate evening of film and music in the Castro,in the City by the Bay; San Francisco.
After running a successful online crowdfunding campaign, via Rockethub, 30 New York City street musicians who were featured in the Award Winning Book, The Noise Beneath the Apple were invited to Grand Street Recording in Brooklyn, New York to create a version of the Billy Joel song, New York State of Mind.
The six-plus minute jazz infused single, features some of the best, most innovative and talented musicians from the streets of New York City; violins, musical saw, cello, accordion, stunning vocals and more blend together to create this unique song.
From the ten hours in the recording studio, a 13 minute, short documentary film was also created, capturing the day and experience as it unfolded.
The evening will include live musical performances,as well as the film and music screening and a Q&A with creator Heather Jacks and Music Producer/Arranger, Keaton Simons.
The event is FREE, however, the first 30 pre-registered guests, will receive a Dante's ticket to be redeemed at the bar for a glass of wine or an ice cold beer, a copy of the music, a mini movie poster and a SWAG bag including items from our various supporters and sponsors.(and popcorn, of course!)
The full length DVD/CD package, including music, bonus reel, outtakes and personal scrapbook will also be available.
