Coming Home: Celebrating Our Local Food Action Heroes
Please join Slow Food Huron Valley in a Celebration of Our Local Food Action Heroes for an evening of community connection and inspiration.

David Korten says "the most important natural resource of the 21st Century is community."  Confronted with state government's increasing limitations and the federal government's overcommitment of public resources, communities like Ann Arbor are increasingly left on their own to transform and reinvent not just their economies, but a whole series of community interrelationships.

Chris Bedford's new film, "COMING HOME: E.F. Schumacher and the Reinvention of the Local Economy" was produced to help communities address the challenges of paradigm change in land use, investment in local businesses, and money, itself. On Thursday, September 3rd, COMING HOME will be shown at the Michigan Theatre as part of a larger community event to inaugurate Local Food Month in Ann Arbor and a community conversation about how "we as a community can cooperate across organizations and efforts" to reinvent our food and energy economies.

The film will be preceded by recognizing outstanding people leading efforts toward community food security, and an announcement of our Local Food Action Hero awards. After the film, we'll have an audience discussion and update on progress in re-localization activities following January's Local Food Summit.

This is event is made possible with the generous support of Whole Foods Cranbrook.
