Expressionism in Art and Poetry
Join Literary Affairs at LACMA for an exploration of the Expressionist movement in the worlds of art and poetry. We will begin the day with a private, docent-led tour of LACMA's Expressionism in Germany and France exhibit before the museum opens to the general public. In this unique exhibition Expressionism is presented as an international movement in which artists responded to the work of Post-Impressionist, Fauvist and Cubist artists like Van Gogh, Cézanne, and Gauguin. Following the tour, we will reconvene at the C&M Café on the LACMA campus for an informal discussion of several expressionist poems by poets like Georg Trakl and Rainer Maria Rilke, led by our very own award winning poet Jessica Piazza. You'll receive a packet of poems to read along with your ticket purchase. Space is limited - reserve your spot today!
PLEASE NOTE - Your ticket for this event does NOT include any food or beverage. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase refreshments at the cafe before the poetry discussion.
TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
