2014 Public Tours of the 9/11 Memorial and World Trade Center
Tour Summary: Doug Fox, a recipient of a 2014 Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor, conducts 90-minute public tours of the 9/11 Memorial and World Trade Center.

Doug offers a compelling, in-depth tour that covers the events of 9/11 and their aftermath, the design and development of the 9/11 Memorial and 9/11 Museum, and the history of the original and new World Trade Centers.

This tour serves as an excellent free-standing tour or as a companion to the recently-opened 9/11 Museum. You may choose to visit the 9/11 Museum after this tour.

Sites visited on this tour include: The 9/11 Memorial, the World Trade Center, St. Paul's Chapel, the Firefighters Memorial Wall and new transportation hubs.

Doug brings an extensive collection of photos, illustrations and maps that add an invaluable visual component to this tour.

Tour start location: Southwest Corner of Broadway and Vesey Street (by St Paul's Chapel).

Tour Highlights


  • The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that toppled the iconic Twin Towers and killed almost 3,000 civilians and first responders.


  • All of the developments on the new World Trade Center site including One World Trade Center (The Freedom Tower).


  • The 9/11 Memorial, built in the footprints of the original Twin Towers, and dedicated to the victims of 9/11.


  • A preview of the new 9/11 Museum including the best way to experience the Museum and recent controversies surrounding some of the Museum's exhibits.


  • St. Paul's Chapel, built in 1766 and located just one block from the World Trade Center, survived the 9/11 attacks with only minor damage, and served as an important place of rest and recovery for construction workers, firefighters, police officers and others working on rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero.


  • FDNY (Fire Department, City of New York) Memorial Wall at Ten House that pays tribute to the 343 firefighters who fell on 9/11.


  • The history, construction and engineering of the original World Trade Center.


  • The upcoming World Trade Center Transportation Hub with its soaring 150-foot-high ribbed white wings.
