LHA Third Sunday Salon, July 20
Two presentations this month! World-famous lithographer and daguerrotype artist M. Jules Lion will speak about race and culture in New Orleans and the position of our prosperous Gens de Couleurs Libres (free people of color.) The contributions of this professional class of citizens are wide-ranging and touch our city to this day.
Then, 7th U.S. President and the hero of the Battle of New Orleans, Ol' Hickory himself, Maj. General Andrew Jackson will reminisce about that fateful battle of the war of 1812, as well as the strategic importance and tactical significance of the City of New Orleans. Get the inside story of this historic showdown!
