Zumbathon Charity Event for Soaringwords AND Baby Drea- Cystic Fibrosis Awareness
This event is for 2 VERY worthy causes: Soaringwords AND in support of Baby Drea, the granddaughter of our own local ZIN member, Diane Nardacci. Drea was recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, an incurable disease.
The Soaringwords + Zumba Fitness initiative will be starting at Albany Medical Center very soon, bringing free Zumba classes to pediatric patients, their families and hospital staff. Baby Drea will be receiving care at Albany Med.
SOARINGWORDS' MISSION is to lessen the negative impact of serious illness by embracing hospitalized children, families and staff, encouraging positive health and healing. Soaringwords provides fun, creative and educational activities both in person and online based on positive psychology concepts that enhance well-being in the midst of illness. Soaringwords is unique because it is the only organization that motivates ill children and their families to "pay it forward" which fosters altruism, reciprocity, empathy, well-being and resilience.
Since November of 2012 Soaringwords has been sharing free monthly Zumba Fitness classes in pediatric hospitals around the country. The overwhelming positive reaction from every hospitalized child, their Moms and Dads, and all of the hardworking nurses and hospital professionals inspired them to expand this successful initiative to 100 hospitals worldwide. That's where we need your support.
Help support this important initiative by making a donation. 100% of your donation will fund this collaboration, as we lead and coordinate hospital professionals and Zumba Fitness instructors. With your support, we will share the healing power of dance, movement, laughter, and community to transform the lives of pediatric patients.
