BISS - Best in Summer Shorts Film Festival
With the growing popularity of Youtube, a destination to watch and share original videos worldwide, people of all ages have begun to experiment with amateur film making. It was because of this that, three years ago, Milton resident Libby Zando developed the idea of a short film festival at the Milton.
Now in her third year as chairperson for the event, Zando claims, "The event was created to feature local filmmakers and bring the community together to view shorts, discuss highlights and have a great fundraiser for the theatre!"
The festival is simple. A screening committee will select the best of the entrants, whose films will then be shown on the big screen. A panel of three judges, experienced in the field, will vote, along with the audience, to determine the winners in each age category.
Cash Prizes will be awarded for Best Overall Film ($100), Best Technical Film ($75) and Audience Favorite ($50). Prizes are awarded in each of the four age categories. Age categories are: 10-14, 15-18, 19-24, and 25 and up.
