Stallion Presents 2nd Annual TallTownes Backyard BBQ
UNCLE LUCIUS, THE GREENCARDS, HELLO WHEELS, BUTCH HANCOCK, JOHN EDWARD BAUMANN and CRAIG ELLIOTT
UNCLE LUCIUS Austin-based Americana rock band Uncle Lucius released its new studio album, And You Are Me, on August 28, 2012. Recorded in Austin and Nashville, And You Are Me finds Uncle Lucius stretching their musicianship and reeling in eleven songs that punch with a fullness reminiscent of The Doors to early Black Crowes. Uncle Lucius takes rock and roll from its deep roots, pushes it onward by putting their own honest interpretation of new rock sounds with elements of r&b and blues added. The band includes Kevin Galloway on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Mike Carpenter on lead guitar and vocals, Josh Greco on drums and percussion and Jon Grossman on lead vocals, and keys. The most recent single from And You Are Me, "Somewhere Else" is playing at radio stations now.
THE GREENCARDS From the first down-beat in 2002, through tours with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, The Greencards have won hearts and acclaim for their multi-dimensional Americana vision. They are TallTownes' first multiple-GRAMMY nominated act, having received GRAMMY nominations in 2008, 2010 and 2014. They were the 2006 Americana Honors & Awards winner as New/Emerging Artist Of The Year, and have occupied the number one position on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart. TallTownes is extremely excited to bring The Greencards to Midland for our Backyard BBQ.
HELLO WHEELS Hello Wheels is a stomp-folk act from Austin, TX. Harmony rich and driving, their songs boast dynamic arrangements, thoughtfully woven into the stories they tell. The result of their energetic, unique arrangements delivered on traditional instruments has been called 'a new sound with an old soul'.
BUTCH HANCOCK A world traveling troubadour with a long string of recorded songs and albums, Butch Hancock has been called one of the finest songwriters of our time and is acknowledged by peers and critics alike as one of the premier singer-songwriters Texas has ever produced. Hancock is also a member of renowned alternative country super-group, The Flatlanders, along with his lifelong friends, Joe Ely and Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
JOHN EDWARD BAUMANN JEB has the gift of writing smart songs about folks making dumb decisions, and of tempering his youthful gusto with a well-traveled eye for detail, dignity, and world-weariness. There's a lend-me-your-ears earnestness to his voice that makes it easy to enjoy provocative numbers about stormy-skulled loners who aren't sure if they got sucker-punched in the parking lot or just hit the ground due to their own bad habits. Somewhere between an alt-country intellectual and a small-town realist, if you don't see yourself in at least one of JEB's songs you might wanna double-check that birth certificate. You might not be from around here.
