Rainshadow Community Charter High School Washington D.C. Fundraiser
Reno, NV Well known local artists Kate Cotter, Eric Anderson, Tony Walker, and Drew Wesely will perform a benefit show in support of students from Rainshadow Community Charter High School to raise funds in order to travel and tour Washington D.C this summer from June 16th-20th.

Kate Cotter was voted one of the "Best Local Musicians in Northern Nevada" in 2006, 2007, and 2009, and is widely considered amongst the top artists in the area. She has played locally to sold out crowds for both her album release parties at John Ascuaga's Celebrity Showroom, and toured nationally as well as internationally. She has played shows with many famous performers from the likes of Pat Benatar to folk legend John Gorka, and is a powerful artist and entertainer in her own right. She will be performing alongside local singer songwriter and pianist Eric Anderson, whose work includes a 2012 release of his band, "The Novelists", debut album "Backstory" along with his second solo album "Close To Home", featuring Daryl Stuermer of the Phil Collins Genesis Band, and local rising vocalist Whitney Meyer, recently seen on NBC's "The Voice". T. Lee Walker and Drew Wesely will open the show. T. Lee Walker has been a mainstay of the spoken word and local hip-hop community for years, and is now bringing his fans a very gritty and soulful sound, backed by the guitar playing Drew Wesely.

The event includes a buffet provided by Chris Jalkson, culinary chef at Rainshadowcchs, served by Rainshadow students enrolled in the culinary program. Coffee and soda service will be provided free of charge, along with dessert. Doors will open at 5pm, and dinner will be served from 6-7 pm; music will follow from 7 pm- 9 pm. Cost for each individual to travel to Washington D.C. is over $ 2,000 dollars, and so far the group has raised $1,500 to help offset costs. Many students that attend Rainshadow have not traveled outside of the Truckee Meadows, let alone to our nation's capital. The opportunity to see Washington D.C. and learn about its unique history and culture, far outweighs the cost of traveling.

Lakeside ranch is located at 8801 Lakeside Drive Reno, NV 89511.There is parking available for up to two hundred guests, and the venue will be located out on the main lawn nearby a running creek. It is a picturesque scene, and should be a beautiful early summer evening. Tickets are $25 a guest, and all proceeds will go to benefit the trip to Washington D.C. Engraved glasses featuring a pirate ship, the school's emblem, will be available for the purchase price of $20. Glasses can be used for refills of beer poured by a local bartender.
