"Charity Case" - Not Yet Famous
The historic, non-profit Milton Theatre presents, for the first time, local folk band, Charity Case. Charity Case, featuring Stuart Vining and Amy Felker, will appear onstage at the Milton on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 8 pm.
Amy Felker and Stuart Vining, the newest singing duo in the area, call themselves Charity Case. The name comes from Amy's notion that ...Stuart has taken me on as a charity case when it comes to learning how to sing!
Vining, however, disagrees. Amy has a great voice, lots of power and toneshe's simply not been in musical group before, and Not Yet Famous is a great gig for her Milton Theatre debut.
Vining, 59, lives in Rehoboth, and is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who began playing guitar and singing in the early 60's and has played in various bands throughout the east coast, including Big Hat No Cattle and Vinyl Shockley and Friends. He is a versatile performer, playing everything from early folk tunes to progressive bluegrass.
Felker, 42, moved to the area in 1989, and owns and operates The Lewes Bake Shoppe and Notting Hill Roastery on Second Street. She has been singing nearly all her life. Mostly, Amy says, I sing in the shower. Lately I began singing one or two songs with The Fabulous Shockley Brothers. Stuart heard me last November, and we decided to get a duet going.
Both Vining and Felker admit the best part of playing music is the fun. It's a hoot, really! they both chime in.
