In FORGET ME NOT (Vergiss Mein Nicht), leading documentary filmmaker David Sieveking (DAVID WANTS TO FLY) portrays the domestic care of his mother Gretel, who, like millions of others, is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
David Sieveking weaves an astonishingly candid, loving and revelatory chronicle of the changes his mothers Alzheimer's has on his family. Although dealing with his mother disease is painful, caring for her does offer Sieveking a chance to reconnect with his family and immerses himself in the secrets and passions of his parents long and fascinating life. With humor and candor, David Sieveking's family chronicle is characterized by unaffected participation and loving affection, where it is the human being at the center of the story, not the illness.
About the Director:
David Sieveking was born in 1977 in Friedberg and studied Directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) from 2000-2007, during which time he worked as an editor, 1st AD and actor for film and television. In 2003, he participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus. A selection of his films includes: NACHDREH (short, 2000), A PROPOS DENNIS (doc, 2001), GANGA GUEST HOUSE (short, 2002), DIE AMERIKANISCHE BOTSCHAFT (short, 2003), MR. SINGH (2004, an episode of the feature ASYL), WILD MAN (short, 2006), SENEGALLEMAND (doc, 2007), DAVID WANTS TO FLY (doc, 2010), and FORGET ME NOT (doc, 2012).
