Felipe Ortiz/Water Base Painter
Colombian born artist Felipe Ortiz focuses on the practice of painting. He earned a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and design in 2009 and has resided in the Boston area for the the past decade. The styles of painting focusing on the theme of urban and industrial scenery. ranging from observational and traditional techniques to a more abstract arrangement of imagery. Inspired by his Latin American roots, He explores nature as a subject matter in his painting. The nature paintings are expressionistic in style, combining imaginatively arrangements of animal and vegetation to represent Colombian and tropical biodiversity. From time to time his representational urban style is mixed with the natural depictions of his tropical background, giving life to a painterly collage of imagery, unique in its form, challenging dimensions and perception of what is being presented to the viewer. In the time to come Felipe hopes to travel and reacquaint with the natural settings of his upbringing in Colombia. this will lead to more direct and detail information of the rich landscape of the tropics. www.felipeortiz.com
