Jaz'N'theViolin presents Lache Cercel and the Roma Jazz Ensemble
Lache Cercel is a world renowned violinist. Born in Romania, he has now made Vancouver his home for a number of years. His music reflects his ROMA heritage (DON'T call it 'Gypsy Jazz' 'Gypsy' is seen a pejorative term by the Roma people), his interest in Roma guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli and their 'Hot Club of France,' but also more modern jazz and World Music.
His Roma Jazz Ensemble includes some of Vancouver's most accomplished musicians including Don Ogilvie on guitar, Sam Soichet on bass and vocals, and any number of 'special guests' all creating the flare and passion of traditional eastern european melodies with swingin jazz harmonies.
