NWAAFF 2004 - FEATURE: TAKE OUT
NORTHWEST ASIAN AMERICAN THEATRE PRESENTS NORTHWEST ASIAN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL 2004
FEATURE: TAKE OUT USA/Taiwan, 2004, 87 minutes
> Seattle premiere! > Filmmakers Shih-ching Tsou and Sean Baker scheduled to attend!
TAKE OUT is a day in the life of Ming Ding, an illegal Chinese immigrant working as a deliveryman for a Chinese take-out shop in New York City. Ming has one day to repay the smugglers who arranged his illegal passage into the US. After borrowing most of the funds from friends and relatives, he realizes that the remainder must come from the dayÂs delivery tips. To clear his debts, all he has to do is make more than double his average daily income in one night...
First-time feature filmmakers Shih-ching Tsou and Sean Baker pull no punches when it comes to depicting the grim reality of an existence that is very often taken for granted.
