Diamond Dogs
ALASTAIR REYNOLDS' cold-blooded 2001 novella of identity and obsession: DIAMOND DOGS is Old School sci-fi horror. Like H. P. Lovecraft and Ken Sterlings' 1936 IN THE WALLS OF EYRX and Algis Budrys 1960 ROGUE MOON before it, the story is a prime example of the deadly maze sub-genre in science fiction. The film CUBE (1997) and its sequels also slot easily into this category, but the type has been a favorite of authors and readers for a century, now.
Set in the REVELATION SPACE Universe - chronicled by REYNOLDS in five novels and some dozen shorter works - DIAMOND DOGS follows a team of six scientist/mercenaries cracking the interior code of a massive - and deadly - black Spire, set upon another planet's surface by persons or civilization, unknown.
Adapted for the stage by Althos Low.
The Taffety Punk Generator teams up with Chicago-based Shanghai Low Theatricals to present a new script based on the sci-fi novel by Alastair Reynolds: Diamond Dogs. Like Taffety Punk, members of Shanghai Low are unafraid in the face of directorial challenges...in fact, they delight in them. The company dares to produce that which is unproduceable. Be among the first to hear DIAMOND DOGS to know what we mean.
