B & Clary Holt Community Room Vision Event
Company Shops Market is currently fundraising to create the new B & Clary Holt Community Room, a space for the community and the markets to have meetings, workshops, and events. On January 15th we we are inviting community members to come see the space before we begin renovations over wine and appetizers. This event is free and open to all community members, but we would appreciate it if you registered for the event.
Even though you may have shopped at Company Shops Market many times, you may not know that there is an upstairs to our store. Staff offices and a community meeting room are on the second floor in the back of the building. In addition to staff office space, it is the place where we host workshops, where our board of directors meets, and where community groups often reserve space for their meetings. In 2013 over 40 different community organizations have used this space. Many folks who attend these gatherings are visiting Company Shops for their very first time.
However, when CSM opened in 2011 there was not enough funding to remodel the upstairs. Ceilings and floors still need to be finished, the sprinkler system has to be adjusted for the new ceiling, the wiring and lighting must be updated, staff workspace must be renovated, and we need meeting room furniture that will meet the needs of various groups.
The CSM board of directors has accepted a challenge gift from the family of B and Clary Holt to initiate a fundraising campaign to raise at least $60,000 to complete this next phase of CSM's service to our community. A fundraising task force has been at work for several months, and is making good progress in raising funds.
Company Shops Market now asks for your help in reaching our goal so that we can complete this renovation and be able to serve the community in an even more effective way.
We will begin the work as soon as possible after February 1, and we expect to complete the renovation in the Spring of 2014.
