IN RESIDENCE AT IRT THEATER: April 22- May 5 2014

A Man lives on a dangerous, desolate beach with his Coconut wife. Existing on the margins of civilization, both Man and Coconut experience excruciating physical and psychological pain. When Coconut rots, the Man is discovered and pulled back to civilization. A faceless office worker named Melissa, attracted to the Man's raw agony, pushes both to the brink of disaster and deliverance.

Jenny Beth Snyder (Director) is a brooklyn based director and co-founder of theater company Fresh Ground Pepper NYC. Her recent directing credits include: Slaughterhouse-Five (TrueFalse Theatre/NYC Fringe festival and Encore series); Take Me Home asst Meghan Finn (Incubator Arts Other Forces Festival); Bedspread (TrueFalse Theatre/Adonis Festival); Leg (Not just 3 new plays); America, in Camera! (FGP Playground Festival); Hamlet (TrueFalse resident director 2012); Motel Cherry asst.Meghan Finn (Clubbed Thumb/New Georges); Ideal NY Premiere (59 E 59 America's Off Broadway Festival). Jenny holds a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the arts. She was a Lincoln Center Theater Director's Lab participant in 2013.

Rachel Hutt (Co-Producer/Dramaturg) is the Artistic Programs Administrator at New Dramatists. She graduated with her MFA in Dramaturgy from the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theatre Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. She has worked as a production dramaturg at American Repertory Theater and Portland Stage Company and in the literary office at Florida Studio Theatre. Rachel Hutt has also worked with Ontological-Hysteric Theatre, New Georges, Dixon Place, Aspen Music Festival and School, and MASS MoCA in a variety of positions. Her writing and editing can be found on the Moscow Art Theatre website and American Theatre magazine.

Jessica Lewis (playwright/co-producer) created Those___Daughters for the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival, developed her short plays Woman Connected to Button and Cashing In at Intar Theatre and presented work at Truffle Theatre Company and St. Francisville Transitory Theatre. She received the Rita and Burton Goldberg Play Award for What I Learned About Myself Secondhand, which explores multi-cultural identity and what it means to be "white".  Jessica's play Knock Off was selected for the 2014 Great Plains Theatre Conference PlayLab.  She is Artistic and International Programs Associate at TCG and graduated from NYU's MFA program in Dramatic Writing.

Blaze Ferrer (Stage Manager) is a Brooklyn-based performance maker. He has directed and choreographed pieces for AUNTS, Exquisite Corpse Company, Fresh Ground Pepper, and Pencil Productions. Blaze has formerly interned at New Dramatists and The New Group. He has also stage managed and assisted on productions with The New Group, NYCFringe, and the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival.
