Well worth the trip!

Disregard the Vampire is a character study of Cryptor the Vampire, his protege Veronica, and their two latest victims Ginger and Joe. The narrative is told in a very unique structure, and the movie calls for high level of performance. Towards that end, esteemed Actor Michael Thurber, the Founder and Artistic Director of the Theater Company of Rhode Island, has been enlisted as Cryptor - a tortured and troubled Vampire with a highly creative past. Indeed, this is a story of "when the dying meet the dead".

The film's Director Mike Messier is an award winning filmmaker, having won a regional Associated Press Award as an Associate Producer for a documentary about Haiti and also a Regional Emmy Nomination for the same film. As an Actor, Messier has shared scenes with Cybill Shepherd (as her son) and Wesley Snipes in "Hard Luck", Meryl Streep and Elisabeth Shue in "Hope Springs" and most recently Richard Jenkins and Frances McDormand in "Olive Kitteridge". University students will be enlisted as interns as the film aids to prosper the arts community in Rhode Island.

Mr. Messier will be your gracious host and Mr. Thurber will be our special guest Piano playing monsieur at a Disregard the Vampire cocktail party at Courthouse Center for the Arts on Friday night, January 17 (snow date January 31). Note: The following weekend there will be a casting call for the other lead characters.

At our Jan 17 event, we will also share the first Advanced screening of "The Actor" - a short film starring David Graziano, Christine Perla and Diana Porter, directed by Mr. Messier and Mr. Skip Shea. The Actor is a love story between a man, his art, and his love - both lost and regained. This short film was created at Courthouse Center for the Arts.

This promises to be a wonderful, poignant evening, highly unique to the Arts world. Plenty of free parking.

Benefits to help produce Disregard the Vampire movie, The CCA, and to support the catering by Westerly High School Culinary Arts School.
