Patches & Albo / Brand New Shoes - Matinee Show
PATCHES & ALBO is a Chicago band made up of five high schoolers. Alexander Alex Juarez, Axel Juarez (yes we have brothers in the band!), Eliza Lampert, Luka Vodopic, and Vincent Molden all met at the School of Rock Chicago where they share a joint passion for playing and listening to music. While they are all above the age of 15, they love to have some fun; hence the name Patches and Albo after two of Alexs stuffed animals. The real Patches and Albo make an appearance at every gig on stage with the band.
The five all come from very different musical backgrounds. Vincent started off his music career by starring in the Broadway production of the School of Rock Musical. Luka started taking lessons at the Old Town School of Folk music, eventually making his way to becoming a Ravinia Jazz Scholar. Alex, Axel, and Eliza all began at School of Rock, performing and rocking crowds from early ages.
Patches primarily plays covers and has a niche for funk and jazz. They have played a variety of gigs, including private parties, Lakeview PorchFest, fundraisers, and more. You can learn more on their Instagram (@patchesandalbo), Facebook (Patches and Albo), or shoot them an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
THE BRAND NEW SHOES is a Chicago-based group of high school musicians formed by Adam Eberhard, Elijah Farbrother, and Oli Katz in the winter of 2015. With the help of local musician, teacher, and producer, Will Phalen, they recorded and released their self-titled debut albuma compilation of songs written between 2016 and 2018four years later. In the following months, the Shoes wrote a trio of singles, which they debuted at gigs around Chicago alongside multi-instrumentalist Andrew Condrell, the bands latest member.
At the beginning of 2021, the group began working on its first album as a four-piece with an emphasis placed on narrative storytelling. These songs were recorded just five months later and released in August of 2021 on an LP titled Still Life. The album recounts the fictional tale of an English band touring the US in the 1990s and the rainy night its members spend at a hotel in Ohio.
