Bogart Ball
The theme of the 2014 Humphrey Bogart Film Festival is "romance," because 2014 is the 70th anniversary of 'To Have and Have Not,' the movie which launched the legendary on-screen and off-screen romance of Bogie and Bacall. So what can you expect at the 2014 Bogart Ball?
Designed for both singles and couples, the Bogart Ball begins with complimentary parking and a trolley to and from the event. We'll kick off the evening with a private cocktail reception, including butlered hors d'oeuvres. You will mingle with Stephen Bogart, Leonard Maltin, and various special guests, including the recipient of the Maltese Falcon festival award. You can meet local artist Carmen Santago Kelly as she paints an original work of art, The African Queen, to be auctioned that evening. Watch Cuban-born J. Rodriguez, Sr. as he hand rolls you a complimentary cigar.
This year's attendees have the opportunity to be the highest bidder in our first-ever "Bogart Select" Auction. Ticket holders to this year's Ball get the final bid, and winners will be announced during dinner in the Ballroom. Selected items include posters, prints, books, records and DVDs (many of which are signed), a humidor stocked with hand-rolled cigars, and 2 nights at the Hilton Key Largo for the 2015 Bogart Film Festival. Watch for updates as additional items are added.
The evening will move into the Grand Ballroom for an elegant dinner (including wine service) and dancing. Hosts Stephen Bogart, Leonard Maltin, and Billy Corben (Producer and Director of such films as Cocaine Cowboys and The U) will introduce several speakers, present the 2014 Humphrey Bogart Film Festival Award to a secret special honoree, announce our Bogart Select Auction winners, and open the dance floor with our spectacular band.
