Barak Hill's Sketches Scraps and Lines: Rob Hunt and Liz Carney
Sketches, Scraps, and Lines is a monthly songwriter showcase hosted by Barak Hill. Each show features a brief interview and a set of original songs from two of Barak's favorite songwriters.
Barak's guests for September are Rob Hunt and Liz Carney.
Rob Hunt's song find a common ground between modern Americana and traditional folk. He was the primary singer and songwriter in the popular Ozarks band Goat Milk Honey before moving away from the area and taking some time to start a family. But Rob is back in Springfield and we couldn't be more excited to re-introduce you to his songs.
Liz Carney's deep well of musical influences--everything from John Fahey to Leonard Cohen to Jolie Holland--coalesce into a sound that is all her own. Liz plays her songs under the moniker Izabel Crane, as well as one half of the duo The Lacewings. Her songs mine deeply personal truths and explore folklore-esque storytelling, all shrouded Carneys rich voice and soulful delivery.
You're welcome to bring your own drinks, alcoholic or otherwise. However, this is a quiet, listening room show, as well as a live podcast taping. Talking or being in anyway disruptive during the show will not be tolerated.
