Guardians by Peter Morris
Seattle, WA Absurd Reality Theatre is proud to present Peter Morris's prize-winning piece Guardians in an highly anticipated West Coast premiere , playing at Theater Off Jackson from January 6th thru January 21st., Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This will be the first production of Guardians in U.S. since its production off Broadway in 2007.
The Play: A two person monologue piece about the destructive tailwinds of the American invasion of Iraq. The flexibility of morality is brought to light by a series of snapshots.
The Players: Adam Standley (English Boy) and Gabrielle Schutz(American Girl).
Community Involvement: Absurd Reality Theatre is very excited to present Guardians on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. In a move following the lead of such companies as Annex, A.R.T. hopes that having our run on these nights will allow people in the theatre community to take in a performance on their nights off. A.R.T. is also looking forward to sharing this opportunity with many locally based community organizations affected by the Iraq War. They include Iraqi Veterans Against the War (IVAW) , No War Against Iraq Coalition of Washington, Washington ACLU branch, and the Arab American Community Coalition. We will have information available about these organizations in our lobby as well as having a presentation at our Gala event on Saturday, January 10th. at Theater Off Jackson. For our lobby display, we will have an alternating display from a mass of local artists. (See our website, www.absurdreality.com, for a complete list of artists and organizations).
Gala Night: Absurd Reality Theatre will also present a Pay What You Will Gala Night on Saturday, January 10th starting at 7pm. This event includes a talk back with the actors, speakers from Iraqi Veterans Against the War (IVAW), No War Against Iraq Coalition of Washington, Washington ACLU branch, and the Arab American Community Coalition. There will be beer, wine, cocktails, and light appetizers pared with live music and a lobby full of visual art from local artists.
ART's production of Guardians is being produced with the help of The Shunpike.
