Taught by Bobby Hughes

How can the design process be used to make great experiences that promote learning and cultivate lasting, positive change? Inspired by Franz von Stuck's "total work of art" ethos, participants in this seven hour hands-on workshop tackle a local design challenge in teams. Learning how to apply design thinking, a process-based approach to problem solving that combines empathy and creativity, participants address messy, world-sized problems through innovation and collaboration. No prior experience or skills are necessary. A willingness to be bold, have fun, and try new things is required!

Bobby Hughes is an award-winning designer, educator, and innovation consultant. He was a product designer and innovation consultant at IDEO, led design efforts at Kaiser Permanente's Innovation Consultancy, and is currently Principal of Aardvark Design Labs where he helps people and organizations build their creativity and innovation capabilities. He recently taught design thinking at Lakeside School and The Bush School, lectures at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University, and continues to consult with cutting edge organizations such as Google, Intel, & Nike. Hughes received a BS in Physics from the University of Washington and an MS in Engineering/Product Design from Stanford University.
