Online Musical Improv Weekend
UPDATE - Due to unforeseen circumstances, the beginner workshop on 12th December will now run an hour later, from 3-6pm GMT.
Is musical improv something you've always wanted to try? Or, have you felt your musical improv skills getting rusty over lockdown? Are you looking to build up your confidence singing in front of others from the comfort of your own home? Or are you just bored and looking for something to do with your December afternoons?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, then these online workshops are for you! From The Spontaneous Players musical director Jenny Laahs comes a weekend of beginner/improver level workshops from 12th - 13th December, on both days running from 2pm - 5pm GMT. Both workshops will include a mixture of singing exercises to strengthen your confidence, the theory and thinking behind improvising a song, progressive musical improv games, and of course actually improvising songs! The content will be tied together with Jenny's original framework for constructing songs. The beginner workshop on Saturday 12th will start from the building blocks of creating a song from scratch, and the improver workshop on Sunday 13th will focus on confident structuring of full songs. You can attend one or both workshops as you prefer.
