OCU alumnus, best-selling author, and international leadership expert Dr. John Maxwell will be joined by world-renowned surgeon, author, philanthropist, and educator Dr. Ben Carson.
Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D. was son of a single mother in a tough urban neighborhood, running with the wrong crowd and failing in school-feeling as though he had no way out. He could easily have spiraled downward, but he chose another path. Driven by a passion for science and helping those less fortunate, Carson pursued medicine and he would ultimately become one of the most respected neurosurgeons in the world. Carson's life is chronicled in the original TNT movie, Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story staring Oscar winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. He is author of several books including the New York Times best seller, America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great (January 2012). Carson has been married for over 37 years to his wife, Candy and is the father of three sons.
