Jazz Without Borders
Fueled by 12 years of accolades and awards for his work in the U.S., Canadian sax player Jeff Antoniuk formed the Jazz Update band. The group celebrated the release of their first album together in 2007.
Within months the CD Here Today was being heard on jazz radio all over the US and Canada where it rose to No. 3 in the jazz charts. Radio stations from Europe to Asia were playing it, and why not? It brims with Antoniuk originals and luscious covers.
The Jazz Update features some of the finest jazz artists on the Atlantic Seaboard: coveted drummer Tony Martucci and harmonically sophisticated pianist Wade Beach have no technical or stylistic barriers to limit them. Bringing the bottom over the top is bassist Tom Baldwin. His steady hand, melodic sense and impeccable taste are undisputed.
The bands sonic path is informed by tradition and played with a sense of freedom. The group has packed houses at Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center and Smithsonian Caf.
With edgy new compositions and traditional treasures, this Just Desserts concert will be unforgettable.
