The Morningside Players of Morningside Gardens is a non-profit, collective, professional company located in Morningside Heights in upper Manhattan. We are proud to present our fully-staged, fall production, a revival of John Henry Redwood's play, THE OLD SETTLER It is a haunting, romantic comedy-drama set in Harlem, 1943. The story unfolds as two middle-aged sisters' world becomes unsettled by the arrival of a handsome young border from the south.
("Old settler" is an out-dated phrase meaning "spinster.")
Directed by Ajene D. Washington. Cast: Morningside Gardens resident Carol Carter, and newcomers to our theater, Yohanna Florentino, Kim Monroe and Desean Stokes.
This is an AEA showcase. Performances are Oct. 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at 7:30 pm, and Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 3:00pm. Suggested donation is $12; seniors and students $8.
The Morningside Players theater is located at Broadway and 100th St. Please walk down the ramp to the lower level of the building.
Our 2012 revival of A RAISIN IN THE SUN was nominated for an AUDELCO award.
