The period is Victorian Era NYC 1850-1855 The city is bleak, life is very hard here. The gangs run most of the city and outbursts of violence are everywhere. The police department is essentially a brute squad, the firefighters kill more people in the battles to gain possession of the fires than save the lives of people that are victims of the fires. Tammanny Hall and it's resident rat "Boss Tweed" has managed to co-opt the entire city. The "political process" is a sham.
In 1850's NY you need to know how to survive. William Poole does so by boxing and butchering. He is ruthless. This is the tale of life back then. It centers on Poole and his need to control every aspect of his environment. And how his environment wound up controlling him, to death.
We encourage you to come in costume. We will be assigning some audience members as gang members, both male and female, so come dressed for the part. While you're there, feel free to talk to the characters. Have your Tarot read or play some cards. Ask about life in the 1850's. This isn't just a show, it's an interactive exhibit. Come walk amongst the characters that made 5 points famous....or rather....infamous!
