ABOUT THE EVENT:

This event was planned by a committee of friends from New Hope and Lambertivlle, including Emily's sister Amanda. It will be held at one of Bucks County's loveliest estates and will feature live salsa music performed by an energetic and well-known group of musicians headed by Pablo Batista, former percussionist for R&B singer-songwriter, record producer and actress Alicia Keys. Latin-inspired cuisine will be served in a casual atmosphere with BYOB encouraged. Attire is comfortable chic, OR salsa wear, which is usually bright in color, mostly red. Silent auction and raffle from some of the area's premiere retailers and restaurants!

ABOUT THE EMILY AYRE FUND FOR BIG DOG RESCUE:

Emily Ayre was a loving force in many people's lives. She was a trusted and admired middle school guidance counselor and summer camp counselor, a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, girlfriend and friend. And, she was also a renowned dog-lover. From a very young age, Emily's favorite book was the D" volume of the encyclopedia. She spent hours learning everything she could about dogs. She begged her parents for a dog of her own, and when they agreed, she picked Hannah, a mixed-breed rescue dog adopted from a shelter.

In 2008, Emily adopted a giant mixed breed rescue dog named Dover. The two of them -- Emily, and "My Dobie" as she called him, became best friends. Emily found countless ways of making Dover a part of their lives. Whether she was going out on a run, heading out on their friend's boat, or taking a road trip to visit family, Emily made sure that Dover always shared in the fun. Despite Emily's small 5'2 frame and his large 120 pound body, Dover's favorite place to be was on Emily's lap, watching TV.

Her bright spirit, active lifestyle, and compassionate nature provided the love that he needed after being abandoned early in life. Dover repaid Emily's love and loyalty with affection of his own, including remaining steadfast by her side when she passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 11th 2011 at the age of 27.

In memory of Emily's enormous love for Dover & the strong bond they shared, Animal Alliance has created the " Emily Ayre Fund for Big Dog Rescue." Contributions to this fund are used to pay for veterinary care related to illness or injury in dogs weighing over 35 pounds that are removed from shelters through Animal Alliance's rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption programs. All contributions are 100% tax deductible.

ABOUT SALSA:

Salsa is a fast paced, highly energetic dance form, mostly performed with a partner; it's often performed solo too. The dance in its self is very complicated, since the music is overtly fast paced, at 180 beats a minute. The dancers refrain from moving across the dance floor, they tend to stay steady at a single spot. This dance form took birth when Cuban, African and various other Latin-American rhythms began blending together. It was first noticed in New York, when it was performed by the Latin-American migrants, between the 1940s and the 1970s. Various Salsa moves include the Underarm Turn, the Inside Turn, the Leader Turn, the Spot Turn, the Open Break, the Cross Body Lead, and the Enchufla. Salsa styles include Rueda style, Puerto Rican style, On Clave, the Palladium 2 or the Ballroom Mambo, New York style or Eddie Torres style, Los Angeles style, Colombian style, and Cuban style.
