Two Wives
Jewish Circle Theatre proudly presents the premier of Two Wives, a play inspired by the biblical story of Ya'akov, Rachel and Leah, a dramatic triangle of favoritism, jealousy, deception, exile, disappointment, struggle, grief, and prophesy. JCT will take you on a dramatic search for the essence of Ya'akov's heart, looking into the depth and breadth of his love, passion and commitment.
Two Wives seizes artistic liberty and a 21st century perspective to explore a potentially explosive love triangle between one man and two sisters. Can one man love two sisters? Can rival sisters share one man? Two Wives probes between the biblical lines and beyond for insight into these tangled relationships.
Bound to Ya'akov in life and death--Rachel as muse and soulmate, Leah as intellectual partner and mother of seven children. One was the source of all wonder and mystery. The other was the mainstay of support and understanding. The beloved left him bereaved and was buried along the road. The other stayed alongside him and was buried in the grave of the patriarchs and matriarchs. -------------------------------
