BROADWAY HIT SPELLING BEE RUNS APRIL 25 - MAY 24

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn (March of the Falsettos), this Bee is one unforgettable experience.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the contestants spell their way through a series of words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.

To add even more fun to this delightful show, four audience members at each performance will be invited to participate on-stage as additional spellers. Come early and fill out the application form and you might be chosen to be one of the Bee's finalists!

KID-FRIENDLY PERFORMANCES ON APRIL 30, MAY 3, MAY 14 AND MAY 17

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee includes some strong language and mild sexual references that would be similar to that found in a PG-13 rated film.  For that reason, most of our regular performances have a 12-or-over minimum age requirement.

The following child-friendly performances will not include the strong language and sexual references and are suitable for a PG audience, including children 8 and above:

• Thursday, April 30 at 8 PM
• Sunday, May 3 at 2 PM
• Thursday, May 14 at 8 PM
• Sunday, May 17 at 2 PM

ADULT-ONLY PERFORMANCES ON MAY 8, MAY 16 AND MAY 22

The following performances are Adult-Only (18 and over) and will not only include the original dialog and references mentioned above but may include additional R-rated references and situations as well. These performances are not suitable for children:

• Friday, May 8 at 8 PM
• Saturday, May 16 at 8 PM
• Friday, May 22 at 8 PM
