{pages} Welcomes Katie Orphan "Read Me, Los Angeles" Thursday, April 9 at 7 pm
{pages} is thrilled to welcome fellow bookseller and author Katie Orphan to the store to discuss her new book "Read Me, Los Angeles" with writer and poet Francesca Lia Block.

"Read Me, Los Angeles" is a colorful, lively, and informed celebration of all things bookish in L.A. past and present, including interviews with current L.A. writers; day trips in search of favorite fictional characters, from Marlowe to Weetzie Bat; author quotes galore; curated lists of the must-read L.A. books; a look at where writers have lived and worked in the City of Angels; and insight into the city's book festivals, bookstores, publishers, literacy nonprofits, libraries, and more. Rich with photographs, book images, and vintage maps.

About Katie...
Katie Orphan is the proprietor of Orphan Books; before that, she worked at the Last Bookstore in downtown L.A. for a decade. The co-author of the Last Bookstore's guide to downtown L.A. and the author of the recurring feature "Drinking with the Ghost" for the Los Angeles Review of Books, she's been a longtime literary explorer.

About Francesca...
Francesca Lia Block is the author of more than twenty-five books of fiction, non-fiction, short stories and poetry. She received the Spectrum award, the Phoenix award, the ALA Rainbow Award and the 2005 Margaret A. Edwards Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as other citations from the American Library Association to the New York Times Book Review, School Library Journal and Publishers Weekly.
