Produced and Hosted by Amy Salloway
Featured Storytellers: Jodie Arnold and Deborah Frethem

Story Club Minneapolis is a live monthly storytelling show featuring both an open mic segment and a curated set of performers from all over the Twin Cities arts scene and beyond. Story Club showcases true, autobiographical stories -- especially stories that are bold, vulnerable, unexpected, and connected to the complexity of our cultural environment. No two Story Club evenings are ever alike, but each month when we wrap up the show, we feel like we've witnessed a new, unique little community coming together.

So! Starting at 6pm, audience members are invited to put their names in the jar for the opportunity to tell an up-to-7-minute story onstage (Requirements? Has to be a story, has to be true, has to be about you!). When the show begins at 7, three or four tellers are drawn at random to perform, and they'll be followed by our featured guests. Does this make you want to tell a story? GOOD! (Do it! Do it! Do it!)

Story Club's host and producer is actor/writer Amy Salloway! She's the creator of the award-winning autobiographical touring solo plays Does This Monologue Make Me Look Fat?, So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!, and Circumference, as well as the two-person show Entwined. She's contributed true personal stories to programs on MPR and CBC, and has been both a storyteller and story coach for the hit national podcast RISK! You can take memoir and creative writing classes from Amy through Minneapolis Community Ed, and storytelling workshops through The Story Studio. Find out more at Amy's Facebook page Awkward Moment Productions.

Aprils featured performers are Richard Rousseau and Jodie Maruska!

Jodie Maruska may have grown up in Minnesota, but using the restroom at Cabellas is as close to camping as she gets! After being asked for her autograph the first night she performed standup, she knew she had found her calling. 20+ years later, she is a comedy veteran who has performed across the country in clubs, at events, theaters, casinos, colleges and yes, even a couple of backyards. In the Twin Cities, she can be seen regularly at Rick Bronsons House of Comedy, comedy nights at the New Hope Cinema Grill, and The Comedy Corner Underground. She recently made her debut appearance in The 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival, where she was thrilled to be a part of the Best of the Festival show. Jodie appeals to audiences of all ages and uses her familiar Minnesota-nice demeanor to great, unexpected comedic effect. Just dont ask her to go fishing.

Richard Rousseau has been an active participant in the Midwest performance community for over 50 years, as an actor, director, playwright, and as a storyteller. Richards interest in storytelling was prompted by a desire to engage his audience without the aid of scripting or rehearsal. For the past 30 years he has been refining his craft in a wide variety of settings in Minnesota and across the country, including the Minnesota History Center, Mill City Museum, Cheap Theatre and Northlands Storytelling Network. Rousseau was recently awarded the National Storytelling Network's Oracle Award for creative excellence. You can find out more about him at Tales From Another Stage.
