Liar @ The Howland Playhouse
The Howland, Beacon's unparalleled arts and entertainment venue, now celebrating its 40th Anniversary in bringing the arts and entertainment to Beacon and the Hudson Valley, is pleased the present the Howland Playhouse and PopUp Theatrics co-production of Liar, a game of about what it means to find the truth when you are surrounded by lies.
Liar is an immersive theater piece that engages the forty members of the audience in a game of self-exploration that aims to reveal, in the funniest way possible, the lies that form an inescapable part of our lives: little white lies, more or less personal 'secrets', big fat lies, half-truths a.s.o. Devised by PopUp Theatrics, the performance marries theatrical imagination with extensive research and will truly leave one wondering at life's enormous capacity and, of course, appetite, for mystification.
Liar is an audience participation theater piece structured as parlor game with music and prizes. At its conclusion, the audience awards the winner the title, Biggest Liar; however, the evening is meant to be an interrogation of Truth and Lies and how we build trust. In five rounds, the two hosts and a DJ lead the audience on an adventure that should, inconspicuously, shift from friendly low stakes team competition to an internal and individual journey.
