CANCELED Indie Filmmaking through a Feminist Lens - Summer Camp - July 6-10 (ages 11-14)
This camp is being offered twice this summer. This one is available specifically for girls, transgender, and nonbinary youth. The second camp August 17-21 is available for any youth.

In this camp you will learn all the steps to making an independent film that champions gender equality, how to work well together as a creative team, then youll work as a crew to make an original film! Since filmmaking began, creative people like you have been making amazing films with whatever resources they had available. Independent filmmaking requires teamwork, respect, innovation, determination, and so much creativity. Attending this camp at Northwest Film Forum means watching example films in the cinema, writing and storyboarding with your team, learning how to use cameras, lights and audio from the gear cage, shooting on location (either in the Cinema or the neighborhood nearby), editing in Adobe Premiere in the edit lab, and finally watching your film on the big screen!

Why filmmaking through a feminist lens?

This camp has been one of our most popular camps, focusing on teamwork, respect, and creativity. This summer we are putting a specific emphasis on the skills youth need to interpret messages about identity and gender in film and media, and the skills to share your own stories and experiences. In this camp, youll learn about female, trans, and gender non-conforming filmmakers from near and far who have inspired audiences and filmmakers.

We allow for drop-off and pickup within 30 minutes of the start and end time of each program.

Students will need to bring a water bottle, snack, and sack lunch. The camp will provide snacks and all filmmaking equipment.

Camp cost: $400, $350 for NWFF members. Get early registration pricing ($375/$325 members) by signing up before March 9th!

Each camper must have a medical and liability release form, which will be sent to you following registration.
