USGS biologists Ted Castro Santos and Matt O'Donnell will be going over the telemetry data that we have been collecting since October. They will show movements of the fish, namely around the spawning season and how far some fish have traveled since they were first tagged in the first week of September. A demonstration of the TAME program that illustrates the fish movements will also be provided.
We are proud to announce that the recipient of our annual Bob Anderson Conservation Award for 2020 is Mary M. "Polly" Bartlett. A fixture in Shelburne Falls since the late 1960s, Polly has dedicated much of her life to conservation issues and has been a strong advocate for the Deerfield River since the early 1970s.
Her passion for the environment includes stints on the Buckland Conservation Commission, Franklin County Conservation Commission, the Deerfield River Valley Conservation Association and is still on the board of directors of the Deerfield River Watershed Association. She holds a bachelors degree in Animal Science from Penn State and a Masters in Dairy Science from Washington State. A fixture on area hiking trails, ski slopes, Polly has earned a reputation as the first to volunteer for an outdoor-themed project. We are pleased to honor Polly for her years of hard work and dedication to the health and quality of the Deerfield River, as well as maintaining the natural beauty of Franklin County.
Please join us in thanking Polly for her years of environmental advocacy and setting such a high standard for volunteerism that is truly an inspiration for us all.
