Access & Opportunity Breakfast: Be The Golden Thread MLK 2020
The Access & Opportunity Breakfast Series is the convening of thought leaders in business, community, health, education, and government. The morning of January 20, 2020, is dedicated to the life, legacy, and principles of Dr. King. Based on the lessons learned from the presentations by Vibrant Pittsburgh, one of the most critical questions posed was, are we a welcoming community?
In 2019 US News and World Report assessed 125 Metro Areas in the United States. The Greater Harrisburg Metro Region was chosen as #1 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and #44 in the Nation for quality of life. Key factors included the availability of employment, cost of living, cost of housing, the geographic location with access to urban, suburban, and rural communities. An added benefit is ease of access to other Central Pennsylvania communities and larger metropolitan markets.
With all of the favorable factors stated, there is still an underlying disconnect for those that relocate to the region. The challenge to those in attendance and for the remainder of 2020 is to be the golden thread that connects the vibrant fabric of a welcoming community.
If you call Dauphin County home, we want you to stay! If you visit Dauphin County, we want you to stay! Why? If you relocated to Dauphin County, we want you to stay! Why? Because we are the hub of Central Pennsylvania, and Economic Inclusion touches all aspects of life.
We have the opportunity to be the golden thread that connects the fabric of a welcoming community.
As the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. so simplistically stated: There comes a time when people get tired of being pushed out of the glittering sunlight of lifes July and left standing amid the piercing chill of an alpine November.
Join us on January 20th when we commemorate the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and begin to weave the golden thread.
